In the telegraph, Damian Thompson reports that the Bishop of Rochester, Michael Nazir-Ali, thinks that gays should repent – but other bishops think he should shut up instead. The Church of England’s split right down the middle – or should that be, right down the muddle – over gays and lesbians has been going on now for more than four decades. Mr Nazir-Ali has his eyes on next weeks Synod of the Church of England. No wonder most of the general population couldn’t care less what bishops think.
